Good morning everyone, I ordered a Pax corner wardrobe from IKEA for my apartment and am currently facing the challenge of assembling it correctly. Specifically, I am interested in how the assembly of these corner wardrobe modules works, especially regarding the combination of the corner elements with the outer cabinet parts and the correct alignment of the hinges and drawers. Does anyone have experience with the assembly system of these particular models? How do you connect the fabric or wood panels, and are there any tips to ensure the wardrobe stands firmly? I would also like to know if there are any special considerations when assembling the corner joint that must be observed to avoid gaps later or to ensure the doors close properly. I would be very grateful for any detailed advice!

Hi, the corner cabinet is usually delivered in parts: corner unit, side and back panels, plus doors. It is important to first securely install the back panels, then assemble the corner connection using the included fittings and dowels. For the doors, you should make sure the hinges are properly aligned, otherwise they won’t close correctly. The trim is attached last, either clipped on or screwed in, depending on the model.

To bring a bit more structure to the assembly, here is a step-by-step suggestion for the PAX corner wardrobe:

- First, check all the parts and sort them according to the assembly steps
- Pre-assemble the corner elements and secure the back panels with screws at a 90° angle
- Connect the two wardrobe sections at the corner using the supplied corner connectors, which are usually fastened from the inside with screws or dowels
- Make sure the wardrobe is perfectly level – use a spirit level
- Only install the doors once the basic frame is stable, as the hinges are adjustable
- For the cladding, there are clips or screws depending on the design. It often helps to attach the cladding at the end so you can still access the interior for adjustments if needed

Common mistake: Not tightening the corner connection firmly enough, which can cause play and instability later. Also, ensure the wardrobe stands on a solid surface.

I am cautious about the corner joint – it is often assumed that the stability is guaranteed solely by the included fittings. However, especially for heavily loaded cabinets in corner areas, it is important to carefully consider whether additional reinforcements or anchors to the wall and floor are necessary. This is the only way to prevent warping and gaps from developing over time.

Although this cladding is often intended as a decorative element, it also contributes significantly to stability when installed correctly. Therefore, it should not be viewed merely as a finishing touch added afterward.

Thanks in advance for your input! Your point about not underestimating the cladding is very helpful, especially since I often considered it just an aesthetic element.

This reminds me, for PAX corner cabinets, is it necessary to secure them to the wall, or is the base panel alone sufficient? Otherwise, I’d need to buy suitable plugs and screws. Also, during installation, aligning the fronts and doors is an important aspect: How do you adjust the hinges so all doors are flush and close evenly?

Basically, wall mounting is recommended for PAX corner cabinets, especially for taller models or when the cabinet is heavily loaded. The base panel alone usually provides only horizontal stability, but not lateral stability against tipping.

For hinge adjustment: PAX doors have adjustable hinges in three axes (height, depth, side offset). Small screws on the hinges allow easy fine-tuning until the doors are flush and close evenly. It’s best to be patient and proceed step by step.

Regarding the corner connector: Check that all screws are tight and the angle is exactly 90 degrees. A small error here can significantly affect the alignment of the fronts.
