Hello everyone, I have a PAX wardrobe from IKEA that unfortunately has developed some small scratches on the white foil surface. Since this is quite noticeable visually, I am looking for a reliable method to repair or at least reduce the appearance of these small scratches as discreetly as possible. I want to avoid reapplying the entire surface film or replacing it completely.

Has anyone had experience with a specific technique or products that work well on PAX wardrobes? Are there any practical tips or easy-to-use repair solutions you would recommend? It is also important to me that the solution is durable and does not cause further damage. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Hey, great that you started this topic here! Small scratches on the Pax can be really annoying, but no need to panic! You can achieve a lot with wax sticks in the right color! I have tried it myself and was surprised by how good the result turned out! Just keep at it and touch up as needed – it’s encouraging! 🙂

It is especially important not to work on the scratches with too much pressure. Apply colored pencils or furniture markers sparingly; otherwise, the result can quickly look unnatural.

First, clean the damaged area with a mild cleaning agent and a lint-free cloth.

Thank you for the detailed description! Could you also tell me if a special cleaner is recommended for foil surfaces, or would just soapy water be sufficient? And are there differences in wax crayons that I should consider? Some are designed for wood, others for laminate—what works best for PAX foil surfaces?

Soapy water or a mild dish detergent is completely sufficient, as aggressive cleaners could dissolve or discolor the foil.

Yes, it is important to use wax crayons or furniture repair kits that are specifically designed for foil or laminated surfaces. Some products are actually tailored for wood or painted surfaces and could leave unpleasant residues on foil. It’s best to test the product first in a discreet area.

I always use warm water with a little all-purpose cleaner (not too much). It is also important to dry the surface thoroughly before you start the repair. Otherwise, the paint or marker won’t adhere well. It may sound obvious, but it really helps a lot.

I have noticed that some small scratches can almost disappear when you gently rub over them with a white eraser. The eraser removes light abrasion marks without damaging the surface film. Maybe it’s worth trying this before using paint or wax sticks. Has anyone tried this before?
