Hello everyone, I noticed that the rollers on the drawers of my IKEA Besta sideboard no longer slide smoothly and sometimes wobble a bit. Therefore, I want to replace the rollers. Does anyone have experience with this or can explain step-by-step how to properly replace the rollers on Besta drawers? I am especially interested in tips for removing the drawer, taking out the old rollers, and installing the new ones to avoid damaging the furniture. Are there any special tools to watch out for or common mistakes to avoid? Thanks in advance for a detailed explanation!

Basically, the drawers of the Besta system should first be fully extended and, if possible, locked to prevent accidental removal. To remove the rollers, a small Phillips screwdriver and possibly pliers are recommended. The rollers are either clipped in or screwed on. For the clipped versions, carefully push out the fastening pin. Installation is done in reverse order — first position the new roller, then secure it. It is important not to use force to avoid damaging the rails or the drawer sides. After installation, the drawer should be opened and closed several times to check for smooth operation.

First, pull out the drawer completely and empty it. Then remove the old rollers from the side rails. The new rollers can simply be clipped in or screwed on, depending on the model. Make sure the rollers are correctly aligned. Done!

I had the same problem last month! It's really as easy as Traman4 says. Important: Don’t use too much force, or things can break quickly. I ordered new rollers directly from IKEA, and everything fits perfectly. A tiny tip: After replacing them, run the drawer a few times to test it, sometimes the rollers need a slight adjustment. Good luck, you can do it!

It should be noted that IKEA Besta drawers use different roller systems depending on the production year. Therefore, check the drawer type carefully before purchasing replacement parts. If the rollers are attached with screws, it is advisable to use the correct torque to avoid stripping or damaging the threads. For snap-in connections, ensure they are fully seated and locked in place, otherwise noise or frequent wobbling may occur. Applying a drop of oil or silicone spray to the track is also recommended for smoother operation.

Exactly, that is important. Without taking the system into account, replacement rollers might not fit properly. I also have a recommendation: take photos before removing the rollers to document their original position and orientation. If the tracks are heavily soiled, clean them before installing the new rollers to improve the drawer’s movement. Tools needed: screwdriver (Phillips, depending on screw type), possibly a thin pry bar, but use it carefully.
