Hello everyone,

I am currently assembling my new IKEA Brimnes sideboard and have noticed that one of the screws appears to be missing while sorting the hardware. I have checked all the bags multiple times and also looked around my workspace, but it simply cannot be found.

My specific questions for the community are:
- Does anyone have experience with how to handle missing screws for the Brimnes?
- Are there screws that can be easily replaced, or is it essential to use the original part?
- How have you ordered or sourced missing parts from IKEA or other suppliers?

I want to continue the assembly with as little risk as possible, so any practical tips or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Before buying a replacement, check if there are comparable screws available at the hardware store – take some samples with you and test them on the furniture to ensure they fit.

Thanks, Jeanbar, that’s exactly what I planned. I’ve already measured with a caliper. I will definitely call IKEA as well, but there’s probably a similar screw at the hardware store that I could use temporarily if needed.

While waiting for the replacement screw, you could improvise with a similarly sized screw – just make sure it’s not too long or thick.

That’s good advice. I definitely won’t use an oversized screw, as that could damage the wood or affect the stability.

I’ll keep you updated on what IKEA says.

When IKEA sends replacement screws, ask right away if there are any other missing parts. Often, more parts are missing from a few assemblies.

And a tip: sort the screws and check for missing ones at the very beginning to avoid any surprises during assembly.
