Hello everyone,

I am currently assembling my new IKEA Brimnes sideboard and have noticed that one of the screws appears to be missing while sorting the hardware. I have checked all the bags multiple times and also looked around my workspace, but it simply cannot be found.

My specific questions for the community are:
- Does anyone have experience with how to handle missing screws for the Brimnes?
- Are there screws that can be easily replaced, or is it essential to use the original part?
- How have you ordered or sourced missing parts from IKEA or other suppliers?

I want to continue the assembly with as little risk as possible, so any practical tips or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hello Pahiroshi,

I am very familiar with this problem – missing screws during IKEA assembly are unfortunately quite common and really frustrating. The most important thing is to obtain the correct replacement part.

For the IKEA Brimnes, most screws are standard sizes; however, you should not use just any screws because the material thickness and length are crucial, otherwise the stability could be compromised.

A reliable approach:
- Note the exact screw size (the included manual for Brimnes usually provides detailed information).
- Contact IKEA customer service or use the replacement parts ordering page on the IKEA service website, where they can usually assist you directly.
- Before buying replacements, check if there are comparable screws available at a hardware store – take samples with you and test them on the furniture to ensure they fit properly.

If you cannot get the missing screw immediately, continue working on the other parts as much as possible to avoid stress during assembly. Safety should always come first!

Feel free to reach out if you have further questions; I’m happy to help.

Ask IKEA for replacement screws. They usually send them free of charge.

Alternatively: Buy screws in standard sizes at a hardware store and check the measurements carefully.

Oh man, these small screws are like socks in the washing machine – you always end up losing one! 😄

But seriously: If you’re missing a screw for your Brimnes, just contact IKEA. They usually send replacements without any hassle, and I’ve experienced this a few times.

While you wait for the replacement screw, you could improvise with a screw of similar size – just make sure it’s not too long or thick. A bit of improvisation is basically part of assembling furniture, right? 😉

And for the future: consider using a small magnetic mat or a screw tray; it really helps keep small parts together!

Call IKEA directly to request a replacement screw. This usually takes 1-2 weeks.

Until then, do not use temporary screws; it’s better to avoid the risk.

Hello Pahiroshi,

I’m familiar with missing screws and can offer you the following advice:

- IKEA usually provides replacement parts free of charge. You can either visit the nearest store or contact customer service. Having the article number and the missing screw number from the manual ready will be very helpful.

- If you’re in a hurry, you can carefully try a screw of a similar size from a hardware store. Make sure it has the same length, diameter, and an appropriate head to avoid damaging the material.

- Double-check all packaging and sorting bags, as screws are sometimes hidden in smaller plastic bags.

- It’s best to document the missing part so you can get faster service at IKEA.

Hopefully everything works out quickly for you!
