Hello everyone, some time ago I bought an Ikea Pax wardrobe with glass fronts and want to clean these glass surfaces gently. Since I have read that harsher cleaning products or abrasive cloths can damage the surface, I am looking for tested methods and tips on how to clean the glass fronts effectively while protecting the material. I am particularly interested in advice regarding the right cleaning solution, suitable cloths, and possibly how to avoid streaks or static buildup. Are there any special home remedies or Ikea-specific recommendations that have proven successful? Thanks in advance for your help!

As an addition: Ikea does not provide specific cleaning instructions for the Pax glass fronts, so recommendations are based on general glass cleaning practices. It is important to avoid micro-scratches caused by abrasive sponges or dust, which can act like an abrasive.

For heavy dirt, a mild alkaline cleaning solution can be used, such as a few drops of dish detergent in lukewarm water. Although vinegar is a well-known home remedy, it can damage the coating on sensitive glass surfaces over time, so it should only be used occasionally and wiped off thoroughly.

In summary, I recommend:
- Soft cloths
- Mild cleaning agents
- No abrasive cleaners
- Immediate drying

This preserves the appearance and prevents damage.

I simply use warm water and a microfiber cloth. For tougher stains, I add a bit of dish soap. Make sure to dry everything thoroughly to prevent water spots. This method has worked well for me so far.

Very simple: microfiber cloth, lukewarm water, mild soap. No harsh chemicals. After wiping, polish dry. This keeps glass and frames undamaged.

Can anyone share concrete experience on whether, for example, alternative cleaners without ammonia are really better for Ikea Pax glass fronts in the long term?

Thanks for the hint, BAUEVA. Personally, I try to avoid ammonia and alcohol altogether, but the effectiveness is crucial for me. Therefore, I am very interested in experience reports on whether milder cleaners also perform well in the long term on oily or greasy stains, or if compromises have to be made.

I always use a spray glass cleaner and then a cloth – super convenient!

Which cleaners do you use exactly? Are they free from aggressive ingredients, or have you not looked closely at the components?

I want to clean my glass fronts thoroughly without risking dull spots or discoloration after a few weeks.
