Hello everyone, I recently assembled an IKEA Brimnes furniture piece and noticed that the drawer keeps coming off the drawer slides, essentially tipping or sliding out of the tracks. The sliding rails seem to be installed correctly, but when pulling the drawer out, it no longer stays properly aligned in the track, which makes handling difficult and raises concerns about potential damage. My question is: How do you properly secure the drawer on an IKEA Brimnes so that it doesn’t come off the tracks? Are there any special locking mechanisms, screws, or brackets that need to be added? Or is this more likely an issue with the alignment of the slides? I look forward to your advice and experiences, including any repair tips or suggestions to prevent this problem.

The drawer on the BRIMNES has small plastic tabs at the front that need to snap into the runners. Check to see if these are still intact. Also, make sure the runners are properly secured parallel on both sides. If the tabs are missing or broken, they can be replaced with small clips or alternatives.

It is important that the drawer runners are precisely aligned and securely mounted. Even small deviations can cause the drawer to come off track. In IKEA BRIMNES drawers, the rollers and retaining clips are delicate, so check them for damage. If the plastic tabs are worn, replacement parts can be ordered directly from IKEA. Otherwise, it can help to slightly realign the runners by using a small wooden wedge or thin washers under the mounting screws until the fit is correct. The drawer should then lock securely in place and no longer fall out when pulled.

I agree. I had the same problem, and it was really frustrating, especially since the part was new. After multiple tests and carefully adjusting the screws, it finally fit properly.

From my own experience, I can only advise being very patient and not applying too much force if the drawer comes off. Sometimes it seems like an assembly error, but even minor unevenness in the rails can cause issues.

Also, I would check whether the plastic brackets or the drawer rollers themselves are damaged. Sometimes small chips in the laminate on the edge can cause the drawer to come off track.

If nothing else works, I have read that some users use small metal clips or self-adhesive stoppers to prevent shifting — this could be a temporary solution if replacement parts are not quickly available.
