ᐅ How do you clean your floors?

Hello,

by now there are quite a few different household appliances for cleaning floors, such as robotic mops, electric wet mops, and steam cleaners. Do you use any of these, or do you simply use a bucket with a mop?

Best regards,
Sabine

You really have first-world problems. Hire someone to clean for you who isn’t fortunate enough to be able to build a house for xxx.xxx euros and needs every euro to buy something for their kids. My daughter has mostly lived in very large houses, and next year she’ll have about 200m2 (2,150 sq ft) more. But she always pays someone for household chores. There are many women who need money temporarily due to divorce or who never learned a profession to earn enough to pay rent and provide their children with a somewhat decent life. Honestly, I find this whole "mopping discussion" really annoying.

These women don’t exist here. Years ago I tried to find a cleaning lady. No chance privately. You can advertise, but no one responds. Then I got someone through a company, who only dusted the areas that were immediately visible and even broke a vase. I gave up after that. Eventually, Robby was allowed to help, but unfortunately he doesn’t get along with our pets. So he can only vacuum a few rooms.

What exactly does this have to do with the discussion about how to clean your floor?

If you get one that you’re satisfied with, it probably won’t last two years for the price.
And what’s wrong if the device is outdated? It still serves its purpose.
That’s true. There are hardly any. Gems are rare.
But then I’ll do it myself. I have two right hands.
I basically don’t buy unnecessary devices for more expensive money.

Devices are never 100%. Overall, they tend to be no better than satisfactory or adequate.

I wipe damp (not wet) and then dry with a microfiber cloth over a scrubber. Unfortunately, no technical mopping aid achieves a similarly good result.

Unfortunately(!), we have Nero Assoluto as the floor covering in the bathroom, polished – something I would never choose myself. That is the ultimate challenge. But with the approach mentioned above, it is manageable.

You’re right about the latter. However, I think they’re great as a supplement. Having a robot vacuum regularly clean the hallway prevents sand from outside being dragged throughout the whole house. Especially when the grandchildren are around, it’s a big help. These devices aren’t that expensive anymore, and for me, it’s worth it.

And have you tested them all? The big advantage is that they clean while everyone is at work, and thanks to the photovoltaic system, electricity from the roof is also used. They’re not very expensive to purchase either.
