Hello everyone,

Some time ago, I purchased an Ikea Pax wardrobe with glass doors and I am very satisfied with its elegant appearance. However, I have been cautious when cleaning the glass doors so far because I want to avoid scratching them or damaging the surface coating.

My question is: How can you clean glass doors on the Ikea Pax gently to keep the glass streak-free and avoid damaging the frames or any plastic or metal trims? Are there any specific cleaning products or methods that are recommended or ones that should be avoided?

I would also appreciate tips on suitable cleaning tools (e.g., microfiber cloth, sponge) and how to deal with stubborn stains.

Thank you in advance!

I always clean my Pax glass doors with a soft microfiber cloth and some lukewarm water. For stubborn stains, a small amount of dish soap helps. Do not use harsh cleaners or abrasive materials, as they can damage the glass and frames.

The question is very valid, as the glass doors on Ikea Pax require special care due to the different frame materials and surface coatings.

For the cleaning process, I recommend the following steps:

- First, remove dust and loose particles with a dry, soft microfiber cloth to avoid scratches.
- For actual cleaning, use a mild cleaning solution, such as a mixture of lukewarm water with a few drops of pH-neutral dish soap.
- Use a soft microfiber cloth or a fine-pored sponge, never abrasive sponges.
- For stubborn dirt, diluted white vinegar (about 1:1 with water) can help, but use it cautiously to avoid damaging surface edges or seals.
- After cleaning, dry the glass surfaces streak-free with a dry microfiber cloth.
- Important: never use cleaning agents containing alcohol or ammonia (e.g., many common glass cleaners), as these can cause fading of the frames or damage plastic seals.

I’m curious: How are the frames constructed in your case, Nilasar? Are they plastic profiles or aluminum? That would help to further refine the product recommendation.

Thanks for asking! In my model, the frames are actually aluminum—very slim and anodized. The door panel itself is glass with a thin protective coating, at least that’s what I assume, as it feels quite high-quality. There are plastic seals along the inner edges, probably for the locking mechanism.

My main concern is to avoid causing microscopic scratches or damaging the anodized finish. Also, of course, no moisture should penetrate into the frame.

I’d appreciate it if the tips could be tailored specifically to aluminum frames.

This is an important point.

For cleaning glass surfaces with aluminum frames, I recommend a specific method that avoids damage while effectively cleaning:

- Avoid aggressive chemicals. Instead, use mild soap solutions.
- A pH-neutral cleaner is ideal.
- Rinse afterward with clear water to prevent residue.
- Microfiber cloths are the best tool, as they do not cause abrasion.
- To maintain the aluminum appearance, the frames can also be wiped with a damp cloth, but without using any chemical agents.

In summary: For glass doors of the Ikea Pax with aluminum frames, use mild cleaners, avoid alcohol and ammonia, do not use abrasive products, and only use soft cloths.

I can really understand how frustrating it can be to worry about damaging beautiful glass doors. I feel the same way about my furniture – I actually fear small scratches.

It always helps me to remind myself that gentle cleaning usually requires patience more than force. If you immediately use aggressive products on every stain, you risk causing more damage than achieving good results.

So my advice to everyone contributing here: take your time with cleaning, use lukewarm water with a mild cleaner whenever possible, and then carefully dry with a clean microfiber cloth.

And if you ever feel unsure, it's better to undo the cleaning process and take a step back – everything will be fine.

Nilasar, I hope you find the right methods for your Pax doors, and don’t worry – with patience and the right products, they will stay in great condition!
