Some time ago, I bought IKEA Brimnes furniture fronts and now I would like to know the best way to maintain them to keep them in good condition over time. Specifically, I am interested in recommendations for cleaning products that do not damage the surface or leave streaks. Tips for protecting against scratches or discoloration would also be very helpful. Are there any special care products or tricks that have proven effective for Brimnes fronts? Thanks in advance for your experiences!

Hey Juvenal44,
great question! I really love the Brimnes fronts – they are sturdy, but you should take good care of them to keep them lasting a long time! 😊
I always clean mine with a soft, damp cloth and mild dish soap, then dry them thoroughly! Important: don’t use abrasive sponges, as they can scratch the surface!
What also helps a lot is occasionally using a furniture care wipe or some furniture wax – this makes the fronts more resistant to dust and minor scratches. And very important: never use harsh cleaners or anything with ammonia!
Give it a try, it really works! 💪

For the Brimnes fronts, I also strongly recommend avoiding harsh cleaners – the glossy painted surface can become dull or stained over time.
One more thing I'd like to add: avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading. For example, draw curtains or position the furniture so it’s not constantly exposed to sunlight.
This way, the white or dark fronts will stay really nice!

Issac_kla212 Mar 2018 11:07Just a provocative question: Do IKEA Brimnes fronts really require special care? After all, these aren’t luxury furniture pieces made of real wood but rather functional items with foil or lacquer finishes.
I often see people overthinking this. A damp cloth should be enough if you clean them occasionally, right?
If someone really wants to keep them looking good for a long time, they should probably consider investing in higher-quality furniture that genuinely deserves special care.

Of course, it’s not a high-end piece, but I find the foil or surface texture of the Brimnes fronts somewhat prone to scratches and grease stains.
Therefore, practical tips for easy daily cleaning would be really helpful—like how to remove grease stains without using harsh substances.
