Hello everyone, I recently assembled an IKEA Hemnes wardrobe and noticed that the doors don’t close flush. Especially along the edges, there are small gaps, which ideally shouldn’t occur if the installation is properly aligned. My question is: how do you align IKEA Hemnes wardrobes so that the doors close perfectly flush without any unsightly gaps? What steps are particularly important, and are there any special techniques or tricks for adjusting the door hinges beyond the standard instructions? I’ve already tried adjusting the hinge screws, but I’m still not fully satisfied. I’d appreciate any tips!
One more small addition from personal experience:
Sometimes, when tightening the screws, I noticed that a screw hole was a bit worn out. In such cases, you have to work very carefully to prevent the hinge from shifting.
If something is really off—for example, a weak floor or walls that are not perfectly square—it can help to slightly adjust the cabinet using plastic shims or adjustable furniture feet to get the doors aligned properly.

- Open the door.
- Adjust the side screw until the gaps are even.
- Use the height screw to align the door so it is flush.
- The depth screw lets you move the door closer to or further from the cabinet frame.
