Hello everyone,

I am currently trying to correctly adjust the drawer slides on my Ikea Metod kitchen cabinet but have run into some uncertainties.

My specific question is: How do you precisely adjust the Ikea Metod drawer slides, especially regarding proper alignment, front panel adjustment, and ensuring smooth and even operation? What steps are necessary to correct any misalignments in height, depth, or lateral positioning?

I have already installed the slides, but the drawer does not sit flush and sticks on the front – what might I have overlooked? A detailed guide or tips for fine-tuning would be very helpful, as the Ikea instructions are a bit too basic for me. Thank you in advance!

A small additional point regarding mechanical stress that should be considered:

The Metod drawer slides are designed for a specific maximum load, which Ikea states as approximately 15-20 kg (33-44 lbs) per drawer.

If the slides are installed incorrectly, or if the drawer front is adjusted too aggressively causing pressure, plastic parts and clips can be more easily damaged, which affects functionality.

My advice: Always adjust in small increments and avoid putting too much stress on the screws. If something is sticking, it’s better to thoroughly check the slides again before tightening further.

You should also check the condition of the drawer and, if possible, test it without a heavy load to rule out any warping.

If desired, I can also briefly explain the different Metod drawer types (e.g., soft-close vs. push-to-open) and their specific adjustment options.
