Hello everyone,
I am currently planning to securely mount Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets on a solid concrete wall. It is important to me that the cabinets remain stable and firmly fixed over time, without cracks or loosening in the wall or the fasteners themselves.
The wall is a load-bearing concrete wall, not a drywall or similar, so it is quite solid and without cavities.
My questions are:
- Which types of anchors are recommended here to ensure maximum load capacity?
- Do I need special screws, or are the regular Metod screws from Ikea sufficient?
- Is there an optimal spacing or arrangement of the fastening points that you would recommend?
- How should I proceed if I hang several heavy cabinets side by side to distribute the load evenly?
I have also read that some cordless drills or hammer drills work better in this situation. What should be considered?
Could you please share your experiences or recommendations for securely installing Metod cabinets on concrete walls? Thank you in advance!

A small installation guide:
1. Determine measurements: Mark the drill points on the wall using the rail or the cabinet.
2. Drilling: Drill precise holes with at least an 8 mm SDS drill bit (for concrete). Then remove dust, e.g., with compressed air.
3. Anchor choice: Use heavy-duty metal expansion anchors. Plastic anchors are less suitable here.
4. Screws: Match the anchors—usually 6-8 mm thick, with lengths around 70-80 mm (2.8-3.1 inches).
5. Installation: Insert anchors, then screws, hang the cabinet, and adjust slightly if needed.
Make sure the anchors are staggered as much as possible to better distribute the load. A common mistake is drilling all holes at the same height—better to arrange them in a grid, about 50 cm (20 inches) apart.
If you hang several cabinets, either use a hanging rail or fasten each element with at least two screws. This will prevent tipping forces.

I anchored my Metod cabinets to the concrete wall using Fischer metal sleeves and I’m really satisfied. 😊 The feeling when everything fits perfectly and you don’t have to worry anymore is priceless.
A little tip: Take your time when drilling and don’t go too fast, otherwise the drill bit can get stuck. Take breaks, and it will work better and last longer.
And if you need someone to help with screwing, just get in touch—I’ve got the hang of it! 😄

I think it’s good to support each other in these situations and acknowledge any doubts. After all, the goal is to make the space safe and feel comfortable in your own kitchen.
At the same time, information like what is shared here can help build confidence and allow you to approach the task with purpose. Thanks to everyone who provides such detailed advice – it makes things much easier.
