ᐅ How do I securely attach Ikea Brimnes furniture to the wall?

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased some Ikea Brimnes furniture, including dressers and shelves, and now I am facing the challenge of securing them safely to the wall. Since the furniture is relatively tall and heavy, I want to make sure they are really stable and there is no risk of tipping over, especially because there are small children in my household.

Are there any specific tips or recommendations for attaching the Brimnes series? What type of wall anchors or screws work best for concrete walls? Is there anything special to consider when installing the safety rails or brackets that Ikea usually provides? Additionally, I would like to know whether the built-in mounting holes should be used directly or if it is better to add extra brackets afterwards.

I appreciate all advice, especially if someone has practical experience with the Brimnes series and can explain how to secure the furniture safely while preserving the material. Thank you!

How exactly is your wall constructed?

Thank you for your detailed response! My wall is solid concrete; no drywall or lightweight construction. So I will be using a hammer drill instead of just a cordless drill driver.

The screws should be at least 6 mm thick and about 50 mm long

That matches my own assessment. I wanted to ask: Would you insert the wall plugs directly into the solid wall and then screw the Brimnes angle brackets firmly in place, or would you rather use some kind of protective layer (for example, small felt pads) to soften shear forces or prevent deformation of the furniture?

I want to do the installation carefully and thoroughly, but I want to avoid the back of the cabinet warping or gaps forming from overly rigid attachment. Do you have experience with this? Perhaps with older models or heavy loads from decorations, etc.?

Thanks to everyone for the very helpful feedback so far!
