Hello everyone,
I am planning to install an Ikea Pax wardrobe system in my apartment, but I have the problem that the floor in this room is not level. There are slight uneven areas, especially around the edges and in some parts of the middle. My question is: How can I securely and permanently fix an Ikea Pax piece of furniture on an uneven floor so that it stands stable, does not wobble, or get damaged?
I am particularly interested in which measures are effective to compensate for these uneven spots while also optimizing the attachment to the wall or floor.
Who has experience with similar situations? Are there, for example, special adjustable feet, leveling plates, or other products that have proven useful?
I look forward to your tips and a detailed discussion. Thanks in advance!

I have assembled Pax furniture multiple times on uneven floors and can recommend a structured approach:
1. Carefully check the floor and identify uneven areas using a long spirit level or straightedge.
2. Check if the Ikea feet provide sufficient height adjustment (usually they do not).
3. Purchase adjustable furniture feet (for example, metal ones with threads) as replacements or supplements.
4. Use a suitable set of wedges under each piece, such as plastic wedges, to compensate for minor height differences.
5. Before final assembly, adjust all leveling feet so the cabinet stands absolutely stable and does not wobble.
6. Then use the supplied wall fixings, which must be installed – this is important for safety.
Additionally, if using multiple Pax units, I recommend connecting them together to better withstand lateral forces.
Hope this helps – take your time during assembly and double-check as you go rather than regret later!

If you use multiple Pax units, I recommend connecting them to better resist lateral pressure. Thanks for the tip, I wasn’t aware of that. I am actually planning to place two Pax units side by side. Do you think connecting them provides better stability than just fixing them to the wall?
Also, I’m curious—if you don’t mind sharing—how do you handle unevenness between different floor sections, for example when the center is noticeably higher than the corners? Do you use more shims in the lower areas or prefer to build up the base?

Connecting multiple Pax wardrobe units significantly improves lateral stability – this prevents twisting or sliding caused by uneven floor levels.
Regarding your second point: You should compensate for different types of unevenness with individually adjusted shims or adjustable feet. Typically, if the middle is higher, you place shims at the edges.
For large height differences, a sturdy wooden base frame can also be useful to create a continuous support surface. Make sure to secure firm connections between the base frame and the furniture as well as between the base frame and the floor to prevent any movement.
Summary:
- Connect the furniture units
- Adjust individual feet according to the level
- Consider a base frame for significant slopes
- Don’t forget wall anchors
This way, you’ll be on the safe side.
