Hello everyone, I have a rather specific question about retrofitting my Ikea Metod kitchen: How can I install soft-close functionality on Ikea Metod drawers afterwards?

A few months ago, I bought Metod drawers without soft-close, and now I want to know how to add the appropriate hinges or dampers without having to replace the entire drawer front or cabinet box. Are there special soft-close mechanisms that can be easily installed? Do you need any special tools or are there particular steps to keep in mind?

I have heard that some soft-close components are integrated into the drawer runners, but the identical runners without soft-close can also be swapped out. Who has experience with this and can offer tips or a step-by-step guide?

In summary:
- Retrofitting soft-close on Metod drawers requires replacing the drawer slides.
- Original parts from Ikea are recommended to ensure proper fit.
- Removing the drawer front is not absolutely necessary but makes installation easier.
- Tools needed: screwdriver (Phillips head).
- Ikea assembly instructions are detailed, so it’s worth reviewing them before starting.

If you are working with older models, please check whether the drawer width and type of drawer slides are compatible.
