Good morning everyone,

I have a Malm bed frame from IKEA, where I unfortunately noticed some minor damage – mainly scratches and small dents on the surface. My question is: How can I replace only the damaged parts of the Malm bed frame without having to take the entire bed apart? Are there specific replacement parts available to order, or is it more common to replace the whole frame? I am also interested if anyone has experience with the IKEA customer service process for partial damage like this.

I look forward to helpful tips and shared experiences, especially regarding potential pitfalls or any special tools that might be needed. Thanks in advance!

Important: Do not turn too hard or too fast to avoid thread damage!

This is a very important point, which I believe is often underestimated.

Additionally, I would question whether it is always necessary to rely exclusively on original replacement parts for damage to the Malm bed frame.

There are definitely well-fitting alternatives available from hardware stores or custom woodworking services that can be used to replace damaged parts. These options are often more affordable and can even offer quality advantages, for example, by choosing more durable wood or higher-quality painted panels.

Of course, this involves a bit more effort, as the measurements need to be precisely adjusted and sanding or painting may be required, but for those skilled in DIY, this could be a very practical option.

What do you think? Sustainability and cost savings certainly support this approach.
