Hello everyone,
Some time ago, I assembled a kitchen using IKEA Metod cabinets, but I have increasingly encountered the problem that the doors and drawers of the Metod units have warped. The deformations are mostly visible at the edges and sometimes in the middle, which causes them not to close properly or to be misaligned.
My question is: How can warped IKEA Metod doors and drawers be effectively repaired? Are there specific tools or techniques to straighten the warping without damaging the surface or having to replace the door/drawer completely? I have seen that some people lightly treat the edges with heat or adjust them, but I want to avoid making any mistakes.
Perhaps someone here has experience or tips on how to fix such damage with minimal effort—whether you are a beginner or more advanced in DIY skills.
Thank you in advance for your feedback!

I also recommend checking the hinges and fasteners and adjusting them if necessary, as incorrect settings can cause similar symptomsThank you for this tip; I hadn’t really been aware of that before. I will definitely check this on my end and adjust it if needed before proceeding with the actual repair of the warped doors.
Have any of you had experience with suitable tools for these adjustments? IKEA cabinets often have hinges with adjustment options, but I don’t have any specific tools for this and want to avoid causing damage.
Also, I’m interested to know whether the methods described (warming, humid storage) are still recommended for more severe distortions, or if replacement is really the only option then. After all, there is a difference between a door that is slightly warped and one that is significantly bowed.

Have any of you had experience with suitable tools for readjustment?Yes, a simple Phillips screwdriver is usually sufficient for readjusting the hinges, as most IKEA Metod hinges have adjustment screws that are fairly easy to reach.
For adjustable hinges, there are also small Allen wrenches available in case the hinge uses a hex drive. However, this is rather rare for Metod and more common for other types of furniture.
Regarding repair methods: For more severe warping, I recommend replacing the door. If a door is noticeably warped, the function of the hinges can also be affected. Warming or straightening the door with moisture is more suitable for minor to moderate warping and requires patience.
In summary: First check the adjustments, then try to carefully reshape the door. If the damage is too severe, replacement is usually the only solution.
