Hello everyone, I am currently planning to install IKEA Metod kitchen cabinets in my small kitchen and am looking for truly space-saving and practical methods to maximize storage capacity. I am particularly interested in solutions that go beyond the standard instructions and are tailored to tight spaces and limited floor areas. For example: Which cabinet types and interior fittings are especially suitable for small kitchens? How can dead corners, narrow niches, or low ceiling heights be optimally utilized? Are there specific combinations of base cabinets, wall cabinets, or tall cabinets that are especially efficient? And last but not least: What assembly tips are important in tight spaces to make the installation as straightforward and stable as possible? I look forward to hearing about your experiences, recommendations, and tips on how to build IKEA Metod cabinets in a truly space-saving and functional way in small kitchens.
I also had a small kitchen and managed to create a lot of storage space together with Metod! Important: pay close attention to the interior fittings, especially drawer inserts for optimal organization! And don’t be afraid of well-designed tall cabinets – they save a lot of space! Don’t let yourself get stressed, after installation you’ll love the space-saving solutions so much that cooking becomes much more enjoyable!!!!

Be sure to align the first cabinet exactly, as all subsequent modules will be positioned relative to it. Even small deviations can add up and cause problems with doors and drawers. 2. Installing upper cabinets in small rooms is often more challenging: use a sturdy support bracket or temporary props to hold the heavy cabinet boxes securely and align them precisely. Having a second person to assist is very helpful. 3. Lastly, do not forget about ventilation, especially behind the refrigerator and with tall cabinets containing built-in appliances. Ensure good air circulation to dissipate heat and moisture.
Thank you all for the many valuable tips and your time! The combination of using narrow modules, special corner solutions, thoughtful interior design, and consideration of ergonomic aspects seems to provide the best result for the small space. I will carefully review your suggestions again during planning and pay special attention to alignment during construction. If I have detailed questions later, I will gladly reach out again. Thanks again to everyone!
