Hello everyone, I recently bought some IKEA Brimnes furniture, mainly dressers and bedside tables, and I want to protect them from scratches as best as possible. Since the surface is made of laminated wood or MDF with a melamine coating, I’m a bit unsure about the best way to prevent visible scratches, especially because I have pets and often handle cups and other items. Does anyone have tips on protective treatments or specific care methods that have worked well? I’m thinking, for example, about impregnating agents, protective films, or other precautions, but I’m open to completely different ideas as well. I’d also appreciate hearing about experiences with the Brimnes furniture type. Looking forward to your advice!

Does anyone have experience with protective films specifically for the Brimnes series? Are there differences in adhesion or appearance?I have been using transparent protective films on my Brimnes dressers for some time now. The films adhere well if applied carefully, and most have a matte finish that is hardly noticeable. It is important to apply the films in dry, dust-free conditions.
For better adhesion, I recommend cleaning the surface with an alcohol-based wipe and applying the film bubble-free using a squeegee or a smooth card. Make sure to press the edges down firmly.
Regarding scratches, I also use furniture care products containing hard wax components that fill minor scratches and lightly polish the surface. This works very well for superficial marks, but deeper scratches need to be treated with repair kits.
Overall, this is a worthwhile investment if you want to keep your furniture looking good for longer.
