Hello everyone,
I am currently facing the following issue: I want to install the IKEA Metod baseboards, but unfortunately our floor is not completely even – there are some minor irregularities in certain areas, and the floor is slightly wavy in places. My question is: How can I properly attach the IKEA Metod baseboards on uneven floors so that they are stable and fit cleanly, without visible gaps or unsightly openings?
I have already considered using spacers, special clips, or adjusting the baseboards themselves. How do you handle this in such cases? Are there any tips or tricks to attach baseboards flexibly yet securely?
I would appreciate any advice and experiences!

You can additionally secure the strips between the clips with construction adhesive or use small flexible fillers to close gaps. Thanks for the detailed response, that makes sense! The unevenness in our case is about 3–5 mm (0.1–0.2 inches) at the most critical points—not very large, but noticeable.

What I’ve always done is lightly fill uneven spots with wood shims and then place the strips on without stress. The idea of using wood shims as a base sounds practical and should work well in combination with the clips.

To be honest, here’s how I see it: uneven floors and IKEA baseboards really don’t go well together.I understand the point but would like to try to get the best out of the Metod strips before considering other options. Thanks for your input—I’ll put something together with your tips and report back on how it went!
