Hello everyone,
I am facing the challenge of assembling my new Ikea Metod kitchen unit properly and am looking for good tips and experiences here. Specifically, I am interested in the following points:
- How can the assembly of the carcasses and fronts be done efficiently and securely?
- What is the recommended order of assembly to avoid alignment issues later on?
- Are there any special tricks to accurately adjust stops, hinges, and drawers?
- Which tools are truly necessary, and which ones can be skipped?
I want to install my kitchen cleanly and ensure it is stable and long-lasting, as I want to enjoy it for many years. I would really appreciate detailed input and personal experiences – including any advice on potential pitfalls during assembly. Thanks in advance!

A few tips from me:
- Prepare a cup of coffee and play your favorite music – it makes the process much more relaxing.
- Assemble the individual parts slowly and carefully rather than rushing through everything and getting frustrated.
- The hinges are like little magic helpers that you need to adjust until everything fits perfectly.
He’s absolutely right, go for it! And if something doesn’t work smoothly, just loosen it and try another way.
I wish you lots of success and enjoyment with your project! 😊

Don’t be afraid of the hinges! They can be finely adjusted, just experiment a bit – it’s actually fun and really satisfying.

Washers are possible, but they are usually considered temporary solutions and can lead to instability in the long term.I find this assessment important to emphasize. Especially with more expensive kitchens and long-term use, the loads should always be securely supported by the feet.
Also, make sure to connect the cabinet carcasses correctly—while Ikea connector fittings are straightforward, improper installation can cause warping later on.
I also recommend loosely aligning the carcasses before pre-drilling and screwing them together, then rechecking the measurements. This saves a lot of refinishing work on the fronts. Those who take their time and work carefully will be much more satisfied in the end.
