Hello everyone, I have an issue with my IKEA Malm furniture, specifically the nightstand and the large wardrobe – both have a slight wobble, even though they were assembled correctly. I am interested in knowing: How can I effectively prevent wobbling in MALM furniture? What factors typically cause this, and which methods or materials are proven to increase stability? I would appreciate detailed advice, especially tips on targeted reinforcements or alternative screw techniques.

installing a thin wooden batten as internal reinforcement This can be helpful if the piece of furniture does not need to be opened or modified anyway. Caution: The batten should not be too rigid, as this can cause stress due to temperature fluctuations. Lightweight, flexible woods with a small gap to the panel surface are advisable.

The strip must not be too rigid Very important point, thank you!
Could plastic edge profiles be used instead? They would be somewhat more flexible and easier to adjust than wooden strips.
Plastic profiles can be an alternative as long as they are processed firmly and precisely. There is a slight risk that the material may behave differently from the furniture wood with temperature changes, but this is not critical for small dimensions.
In any case, the focus on back panel fastening and floor leveling is most important.
