Hello everyone, I have a problem with my Ikea Brimnes drawers, which start to squeak after some time of use. My question is: How can I prevent my Ikea Brimnes drawers from squeaking? I have already cleaned the drawers and checked to make sure there are no obvious foreign objects in the sliding mechanism, but the squeaking continues. I am interested to know if there are specific care instructions, lubricants, or adjustments recommended for this piece of furniture, without damaging the mechanism. I look forward to your experiences and tips!
Sure, gladly.
I completely removed the drawers from the cabinet and took off the runners to get better access. Then I cleaned everything with a vacuum cleaner and wiped away any remaining dust with a lint-free cloth. I carefully cleaned the plastic rollers with a thin brush because dirt often sticks there. Afterwards, I sprayed the runners and rollers very sparingly with a PTFE spray. The drawers now run much more quietly and much smoother.
It’s important not to use too much spray and rather apply several thin layers.

Another common mistake is irregular maintenance – it is better to check briefly and reapply lubricant if necessary on a regular basis, for example every few months.
Equally important is to open and close the drawers several times after lubrication so the product spreads evenly.
Hello everyone, thanks for all the helpful tips yesterday! Last night I took the time to clean the drawer slides carefully with a fine brush and cloth, then applied a very thin layer of PTFE spray – the difference is clearly noticeable. Very pleasant!
One last question: I’m not keen on doing this frequently. Do you have any experience with how long the effect of this cleaning and lubrication lasts on Brimnes drawers? Or can it be estimated based on the frequency of use?

Under normal conditions, treatment with PTFE spray should last several months. The higher the frequency of use, the shorter its effectiveness.
In homes with a lot of dust or pets, the lubricant can become contaminated more quickly and may need to be reapplied sooner. A biannual inspection and, if necessary, reapplication is a good guideline.
