I own several Malm furniture pieces from IKEA, specifically dressers and nightstands in white, and unfortunately, I notice unattractive scratches and signs of wear appearing after some time. Despite careful use, the furniture no longer looks good after a while. My question is: What proven methods or products are available to prevent Malm furniture from scratching? I am especially interested in practical protective measures that are effective in everyday use without affecting the appearance or feel. Additionally, I would like to know if certain materials or cleaning routines can improve the durability and condition of the surface.

Is there actually a way to repair small scratches yourself or at least improve their appearance?Use furniture touch-up markers that match the color exactly for small scratches. It won’t look perfect but helps visually.
I think it’s important to remember that furniture is meant to be used and that life leaves its marks – and that’s perfectly fine. However, well-maintained furniture simply feels more valuable and brings more enjoyment. Thanks to everyone who has shared their tips so thoughtfully here. 🙂
