wayne42Hello everyone, I am currently planning the assembly of my new IKEA Platsa wardrobe system and want to make the process as efficient as possible. Since PLATSA is modular and offers many variations, I am wondering how to best prepare and organize the assembly to save time and avoid frustration. Specifically, I’m interested in tips on how to sort the individual parts properly, sensible sequences for the assembly process, and whether it’s advisable to use the included tools or better to use your own to avoid wasting time. Additionally, it would be helpful to know how you use the assembly instructions – do you follow them step by step strictly or take a more flexible approach? I look forward to your opinions and advice, especially if you have experience with different room sizes or conditions.
I would definitely say take your time. A relaxed start helps you keep an overview – organizing is almost like meditation😉. The manual is your best friend, but if you find that something works better a different way, feel free to try it out! And, very important, create plenty of space around you so you don’t have to keep searching or moving things.
To assemble the IKEA PLATSA efficiently, I recommend a systematic approach in several steps. First, unpack all parts and sort them by type – for example, separate boards, connectors, and screws. Using a suitable sorting box or small trays helps prevent mixing up the small components. Then, carefully review the assembly instructions to get a complete overview of the entire process at least once. Avoid storing partially assembled parts, as this can cause problems later. Ideally, the assembly should follow the order given in the instructions, since the load and stability are designed accordingly. Regarding tools: the included tools are usually sufficient, but if you have a cordless drill with adjustable torque, you can save time and protect the materials. Question: What is the size of your installation space, and do you plan to expand the PLATSA system with additional modules?

Question: What are the dimensions of your setup room, and are you planning to expand the PLATSA system with additional modules? My setup room is about 3x4 meters (10x13 feet), so it’s quite spacious. However, I do plan to connect at least one more module later, maybe even two. So I’ll probably need to stay a bit flexible. Thanks for the tip about the cordless drill—I have one with adjustable speed control. How about installing the doors? Are there any pitfalls to watch out for if I intend to add more modules later?

Pay close attention to the alignment of the hinges to avoid doors sticking. Use a spirit level and, if possible, an extra person to help ensure doors fit perfectly together. Regarding the extension plan: modularity works best when you carefully plan the connection points and avoid fixing doors across construction joints.
