Hello everyone, I am currently planning to design my small bedroom using IKEA Platsa furniture and am wondering about the best approach to make the most of the available space. The room is about 9 square meters (97 square feet) and I want to create as much storage as possible without overcrowding the space or making it feel cramped. Does anyone have experience with the Platsa system, especially in small rooms? I would appreciate tips on planning steps, module combinations, and possibly useful dimensions to keep in mind. How do you plan storage most effectively, particularly with limited space? Are there any tricks to use the system flexibly and functionally? Looking forward to your advice!
First, you should measure the room precisely and enter the dimensions into the PLATSA planner. Then focus on a modular design that reaches up to the ceiling; the more storage space, the better. Use low modules as seating or surface areas to create multifunctionality in a small bedroom.
The PLATSA system is really great for small spaces because you can customize everything to fit perfectly – almost like building with Lego for your bedroom! 😄 My tip: mix open and closed modules to keep the room from feeling too cluttered. Using vertical storage is excellent, but keep in mind that on 9 m² (97 sq ft), it can quickly feel cramped. Leaving a bit of breathing space is important – otherwise, it can feel confining. Good luck with your planning, it will surely turn out great!

Play around with open and closed modules so the room doesn’t feel too crowded. That’s a good point. Are there any practical layouts that balance storage and open space in a small bedroom with about 2.50m (8 feet) ceiling height? I’m thinking of things like nested units or modular stacking. Access and usability should remain easy despite the height. Perhaps someone has an example? Thanks!
I think this whole obsession with optimizing every centimeter (inch) eventually makes rooms feel lifeless and sterile. Of course, space is limited, but why not be bold and plan for less storage instead, creating a better atmosphere with air and light? PLATSA is very flexible, but large-scale combinations make rooms feel smaller. Try making the furniture light and airy, maybe with bright colors, instead of filling every inch just because you assume more storage is automatically better. Less is often more—especially in the bedroom.

Exactly, I completely agree! 😄 Especially with PLATSA, combining white fronts with open shelving and baskets really pays off. A small tip: use the modules vertically but leave some gaps for open spaces, as this makes the room feel larger. And if possible, place elements on the sides that you can easily reach, because no one wants to keep stretching to access things.
