Hello everyone, I am currently planning to optimize the lighting in my Ikea Metod kitchen and have a few questions. On one hand, I want to ensure there is enough task lighting to properly illuminate the work surfaces, and on the other hand, the lighting should also create a pleasant atmosphere and be flexibly controllable. I am interested in which types of light fixtures work best (LED strips, spotlights, under-cabinet lights, etc.), how to position them most effectively, and if there are any tips for organizing the electrical wiring in an Ikea Metod kitchen without too much DIY work. Do you have experience with integrating dimmers or smart switches, and any specific recommendations regarding color temperature? I look forward to constructive and practical advice—feel free to share real-life examples!

For installation: Ikea Metod frames often leave very little space for wiring. I recommend using cable ducts or routing cables behind the kitchen backsplash. This is a very important point. I often see discussions where installation is treated far too casually. Clean, safe wiring is essential, not only for aesthetic reasons but also for safety. Additionally, dimmers work best when compatible with LED lighting; otherwise, flickering or failures can occur.
That all sounds very helpful, thank you. I have one more question about color temperature: Is neutral white (around 4000K) really the best choice for the kitchen, or is warm white (around 3000K) actually more popular? I understand that cooler light can improve color rendering but can also be perceived as somewhat less cozy. What are your experiences specifically regarding the work area and the overall ambiance?

Electrical systems and controls are often seen as a minor detail, but they can cause problems when cheap dimmers are used with LEDs. In my experience, IKEA products tend to work better with certain brand-name dimmers. It is also important that the total wattage of the LEDs matches the dimmer's load capacity.
