Hello everyone, I am currently facing the challenge of optimizing the installation of Ikea Metod baseboards in an apartment with underfloor heating. Specifically, I want to know how to mount the baseboards so that they provide a clean finish while not interfering with the heat output of the underfloor heating. Are there any special installation techniques, spacing solutions, or materials that should be considered? I have heard that the traditional fixed installation directly on the floor can be problematic because the heat needs to circulate. I am also interested in tips for handling corners and transitions. Perhaps someone has experience with the combination of Metod baseboards and underfloor heating? Thank you in advance for your ideas and recommendations!

The underfloor heating is embedded in a traditional cement screed. It is a low-temperature system operating at around 35°C (95°F) supply temperature.Thank you for the additional information; this is very helpful. For this setup, I would recommend not fixing the baseboards rigidly. The screed expands and contracts, and laminate flooring also tends to swell with temperature changes. A flexible adhesive point or mounting clips with rubber buffers are ideal.
Additionally, if you like, you can create small gaps at the bottom of the baseboards to allow for air circulation without significantly affecting the appearance. This will help optimize the efficiency of the underfloor heating.
Have you considered whether the color or surface finish of the baseboards might reflect heat? White or light-colored plastic components can actually improve heat efficiency to some extent.

Stay flexible with the corners, then everything fits perfectly!I can only agree with that. Corners are often the weak point when installing baseboards over underfloor heating. Miter or corner connectors with some tolerance ensure there are no cracks or warping issues.
My advice: Before installation, dry-fit all baseboards and clips together to check if they fit seamlessly at all angles. This way, you avoid rework and protect the heating system.
