Hello everyone,
I am currently preparing to assemble our new Ikea Metod kitchen and want to optimize ergonomics throughout the entire process as much as possible. The specific question is: How can I optimize ergonomics when assembling an Ikea Metod kitchen?
By this, I mean all aspects that make the assembly more comfortable and less physically demanding – starting with the right working height, handling heavy components, and the arrangement of tools, as well as any aids that can make the process more efficient.
Does anyone have experience or tips on how to protect the back, shoulders, and knees, which working positions are best, or which tools or aids actually make sense?
I’m really looking forward to practical advice and shared experiences!

This recommendation should be considered with some nuance.I agree, ergonomics depend greatly on individual body structure.
You should find your personal comfort zone and adjust your workspace accordingly.

Use of knee pads to protect yourself when working close to the floorA very important addition. Knee pads or a soft mat helped me a lot during assembly – otherwise, my knees would quickly become sore.
Also, it helps not to lift heavy parts directly from the floor but to use small stools.
Do you have any experience with height-adjustable workbenches, especially for kitchen furniture? Is the investment worth it?

To address the question about the height-adjustable assembly table: I definitely see the advantage of being able to adjust the working height, but I’m also reluctant to go through the effort of buying or renting extra equipment.
The kitchen is about 3 meters long (10 feet) with several base cabinets – is it really efficient to assemble the modules on a table, or is it better to work directly at the final installation site?
I’m looking forward to your opinions on these practical details and hope this will provide a clear overall picture of ergonomic approaches.
