Hello everyone,

I am currently facing the challenge of optimizing the available storage space in my IKEA Metod tall cabinets as effectively as possible. Since these cabinets in the kitchen often need to store not only kitchen appliances but also groceries and other items, the question is how to make the best use of the usable space. I am especially interested in tips and tricks for selecting and customizing interior fittings, such as shelves, drawers, or inserts, as the standard solutions often do not meet my needs.

How do you organize your Metod tall cabinets to expand the storage space in a flexible and functional way? Are there any proven methods, special accessories, or DIY solutions that work well?

Looking forward to your experiences and recommendations!

Wow, all these tips are really helpful! I equipped my tall cabinets with so-called pull-out internal organizers from IKEA – that was a game changer for me!

Suddenly, even the upper shelves are much easier to access, and nothing gets lost way in the back.

You can also use small stackable boxes to keep everything neat and organized.

It’s really enjoyable to organize the kitchen this way – give it a try, and you’ll see how much space you suddenly gain!

The argument for better accessibility through pull-outs is understandable. However, the question arises whether the benefit from the reduced storage height (due to the drawer frame) comes at the expense of the overall storage capacity.

For optimal storage optimization, it is therefore always necessary to balance storage volume against ergonomics.

The balance between maximizing storage volume and accessibility can be technically achieved through:

- A combination of fixed shelves and pull-out drawers in varying heights.
- The use of adjustable dividers and boxes to minimize dead corners.
- Organizing based on frequency of use: frequently used items in easily accessible drawers, rarely used items in fixed shelves above.

This keeps the kitchen functional and organized without wasting storage space.

Thank you very much for all the suggestions!

To provide a clearer overview, I will summarize my findings:

- Pull-out interior drawers and drawer modules significantly improve accessibility.
- Original IKEA accessories are practical due to their perfect fit, but modular third-party systems can offer more flexibility.
- Combinations of boxes and adjustable shelves help to optimize the use of space.
- The balance between volume and ease of use is crucial.

I will start by trying the drawer modules in the upper section and additionally use smaller organizer boxes. If I make further adjustments, I will gladly share updates.
