Hello everyone, I am currently planning my kitchen with Ikea Metod tall cabinets and want to make the most efficient use of storage space. I am wondering how to best use interior organizers to keep both small utensils and larger kitchen tools neat and easily accessible. Does anyone have practical tips for combining different types of organizers, such as metal or wire baskets, drawer dividers, or pull-outs? How do you avoid wasting storage space, especially in tall cabinets? Are there any recommendations on how to make storage flexible to adapt to changing needs? I would greatly appreciate your experiences and suggestions.

I completely agree with that. For me, the items I use daily are stored at eye level in drawers or pull-outs, while everything I rarely use goes either at the very top or bottom.

That sounds very sensible and practical. I think I haven’t paid enough attention to this aspect yet and will adjust my planning accordingly. Thanks also to everyone for the helpful tips and insights on different systems. What I’m still curious about: Does anyone have experience with the maximum load capacity of these internal organizers? Especially regarding heavy pots or pantry goods?

Regarding load capacities: Ikea’s metal drawer slides can carry a considerable weight. Wire baskets made of stainless steel with high load capacity are also very practical – these are usually more stable than plastic boxes. Just make sure the manufacturer provides the weight specifications in kilograms, and carry out the installation properly. For heavy loads, it may also be worth considering reinforcing the bottom of the cabinet to ensure everything holds securely.

Metal drawer slides easily support up to 25 kg (55 lbs). Stainless steel wire baskets are durable. Pay attention to load distribution, and store heavy items preferably at the bottom.

Great, thank you very much for your detailed and nuanced feedback! What I have taken away for myself is to focus on flexible partition systems, different levels with height-adjustable shelves, a clear usage structure inside the cabinet, as well as a good mix of Ikea’s own and possibly purchased boxes and baskets. The advice on load capacity and material quality is very helpful for my selection. I will report back on how my implementation goes.
