Hello everyone,
I am currently planning my large kitchen and am focusing on the Ikea Metod tall cabinets. Since the cabinets are quite tall, I want to optimize the available storage space to accommodate both large household items and smaller kitchen utensils efficiently. I am especially interested in which layout options, accessories, or additional systems you would recommend to make the best use of the volume and improve organization.
So far, I have considered rolling internal drawers and adjustable shelves, but I am unsure if this alone is the best solution or if there are other, perhaps less obvious tips and tricks. Are there specific shelves, adjustment techniques, or even organizational principles that have proven particularly effective when using Metod tall cabinets in large kitchens?
Thanks in advance for your experiences and recommendations!

I’m concerned that the back area might easily get overlooked and it would be hard to find things back there. There are practical pull-out drawers that extend all the way to the back. Alternatively, slanted shelves are useful to improve visibility of items.
I always find it interesting how it becomes clear here that we tend to think more about what we can’t put away rather than what we actually need. Instead of maximizing vertical space, sometimes it’s better to radically declutter.
Exactly! The bigger the cabinet, the more it encourages hoarding. For large kitchens, less is sometimes more; not even the best organization strategy can fix that. I’m not a fan of unnecessary gadgets that simply add extra work.

Sometimes it helps to let go of the idea that everything has to be immediately accessible and to intentionally create a space for rarely used items.
