Hello everyone, I recently purchased several IKEA Metod base cabinets for my kitchen and now face the challenge of organizing the available storage space as efficiently as possible. My specific question is: Which organizers or insert elements are best recommended to really optimize the storage space in the IKEA Metod base cabinets? I’m especially interested in how to store small utensils, pots and pans, as well as storage containers in the most space-saving way while keeping easy access and maintaining an overview. Ideally, I’ve already heard about drawer inserts, adjustable dividers, and removable boxes, but I’m unsure how practical each of these options is in real use. Are there any practical tips or specific products that have proven effective? Thanks in advance to everyone who shares their experiences!
Regarding the movable boxes: I found that transparent plastic boxes are the best choice because they stack well and do not obscure the back of the cabinet too much. For Metod, boxes with a depth of about 30-35 cm (12-14 inches) and a width of 20 cm (8 inches) are suitable, as this often makes good use of the cabinet dimensions. There are also affordable sets available that are still sturdy. Flexibility is especially important so that the boxes can be rearranged as needed.
One more important point: Using drawers instead of doors makes organizing much easier. Metod offers drawers or pull-outs with soft-close mechanisms, which not only look high-quality but also significantly improve access to the full depth. When combined with internal inserts, everything is immediately within reach.

Thanks for the tip about the sliding boxes. Do you use specific sizes or models that match the width or depth of Metod exactly?I can totally understand that the range of organizer products can feel overwhelming. What helped me was starting small and trying out just one or two models before buying more. This way, you learn which style and sizes really suit your usage habits. Don’t worry, it’s completely normal to feel uncertain at first.

I think a smart combination of height-adjustable shelves and removable plastic inserts offers a lot of flexibility. The internal Metod organizers and wide drawer inserts are especially practical, as they make the best use of space and create clear organization.I find this interesting, especially the part about the adjustable heights – that could help make better use of the deep base cabinets. Does anyone here use these extra shelves with the official Metod accessories or do you prefer alternative products? How stable are they, and how difficult is the installation?
