Hello everyone, I am currently facing an issue with my IKEA Platsa system. The floors in my apartment are unfortunately not completely level, which causes the units to often wobble or not stand securely. I am looking for tips or proven methods to make my Platsa cabinets stand firmly and stably on uneven floors without tipping or warping. Perhaps someone knows suitable solutions such as special pads, adjustments to the feet, or assembly tips that ensure stable support? I would really appreciate your experiences and recommendations!
Oh, I know that feeling all too well when the floor isn’t perfectly level! But don’t worry, PLATSA is usually quite easy to adjust! 😊 I screwed in threaded plastic gliders from the hardware store under the fronts, which can be individually adjusted. This way, you can compensate for almost any unevenness, and the cabinets will stand rock solid. Sometimes felt pads underneath help too, if the floor is irregular—just make sure they’re not too thick, so nothing wobbles. Give it a try—this little DIY fix can work wonders! Good luck, you’ve got this!
I see it similarly but would like to add a more structured approach: To stabilize IKEA PLATSA units on uneven floors, I recommend the following steps:
- First, identify the exact spot where the cabinet wobbles. Often, it is just a few millimeters difference.
- Retrofit adjustable feet. There are suitable furniture feet with threads that can be screwed onto the bottom panels.
- As a short-term solution, self-adhesive leveling pads or plastic feet can help; these do not slip and compensate for small unevenness.
- For very uneven floors, a custom-cut wooden board can be used as a base to level the entire unit.
Important: Stability also depends on securing the modules together. When using multiple PLATSA elements, they should be firmly fastened to each other. This way, even a small floor step barely matters.
I hope this helps you!

I installed DIY plastic gliders with threaded mounts from the hardware store under the fronts, which can be individually adjusted. That basically sounds good, but how do you prevent the screw connection on the front panel from affecting stability or appearance? I mean, that is the visible part after all.
I would rather recommend placing adjustable furniture feet or special leveling wedges under the base panel. The latter have the advantage of being reversible and do not require any direct modification to the furniture. Also, I wonder if attaching the PLATSA units to the wall does not contribute to stability? Especially on uneven floors, that could play an important role.
Does anyone have solid experience with this or perhaps any information on whether IKEA offers official solutions?

I would rather recommend placing adjustable furniture feet or special leveling wedges under the base plate. That is an important point! PLATSA is delivered from the factory without feet, as most people attach the cabinet directly to the wall. Therefore, retrofitting adjustable feet or height-adjustable furniture glides is almost always necessary on uneven floors.
Before working with screws on visible surfaces, I would recommend removing the bottom base plate and mounting adjustable feet from underneath or on the underside, which are often available at hardware stores. This avoids visible alterations to the furniture while still providing a height-adjustable support.
Additionally, proper wall mounting is essential; it greatly increases safety and prevents tipping.
