LofalkHello everyone, I am facing the challenge of making my Ikea Besta furniture flexible enough to adapt to changing living situations.
Specifically, I want the modules to be easily reconfigured or rearranged without having to do major renovations or buy new furniture each time. It is important that the furniture can be adjusted to different room sizes as well as various uses – for example, as a TV console, bookshelf, or sideboard.
I would appreciate it if you could share your experiences or ideas on how to make Besta systems both versatile and stable, which extensions or accessories have proven useful, and how you manage this in practice with changing living conditions.
Thank you in advance!

Super interesting question, Lofalk! 🎉 I have personally fitted several Besta modules with adjustable shelves and interchangeable doors – this creates a lot of flexibility!
- Adjustable shelves allow you to easily store even large items.
- Different door and drawer fronts let you quickly change the style.
- Additionally, use open shelving units to transform the entire setup in no time.
You can also stack the modules or arrange them side by side, creating a new look each time. Don’t worry, the system is really adaptable – give it a try!

Hey, Lofalk!
I also find the Besta system really flexible, especially because it works with so many accessories – moving or rearranging it is actually fun!
Exactly, open units really lighten things up and allow for quick access. My tip: place rolling cabinets under the modules and secure them with clip connectors.
That way you can move everything without anything shifting. Small hooks on the sides for cable management are also invaluable – nothing is more annoying than a tangled mess of cables when you rearrange furniture often. 😉

I think there is an important question that is often overlooked: How much flexibility actually makes sense without compromising the structural stability or appearance?
In general, the Besta system is modular, but the connecting materials are not designed for frequent rebuilding. Those who rearrange often should consider using additional reinforcing elements or alternative connection systems that provide flexibility to the furniture without causing wear to the joints.
It would also be helpful to know exactly what is meant by "changing living situations" – does it refer more to moves, or frequent rearrangements within the same room? This greatly influences the approach.
