Hello everyone, I have a question about my IKEA Besta drawers, which unfortunately are quite loud when opening or closing them in daily use. My question is: How can I make the IKEA Besta drawers quieter? I mainly use them for storage in the living room, and the loud slamming is really disturbing, especially when it’s quiet in the evening. I have already checked whether the runners are clean or if something is stuck, but I couldn’t find any obvious issues. Are there specific dampers, glide pads, alternative drawer runners, or simple tips that can help reduce the noise? Thanks in advance for your support!

Simply apply silicone spray to the sliding rails; this significantly reduces the noise. If you don’t have dampers, you can also attach felt pads to the inner sides. This usually helps quickly.

Hey, this is a great topic because I personally really enjoy my BESTA drawers! 😊 I definitely recommend investing in the IKEA dampers designed specifically for BESTA. They are inexpensive and make a huge difference! Additionally, you can install small rubber buffers inside to soften the closing even more. This makes opening fun and will save your nerves! It’s definitely worth trying!

You should not only focus on reducing noise but also address the technical aspects: the sliding rails of the IKEA BESTA are not always optimally lubricated or adjusted. First, I recommend thoroughly cleaning the mechanism and removing any dust. After that, use a wax-based lubricant, as silicone spray may seem effective but tends to attract dust and can cause more issues over time. Additionally, you can install a small polymer damper between the drawer and the cabinet interior to reduce slamming. This is a more sustainable solution.

This is a crucial point. Simply dampening the noise is not always enough if the mechanics themselves are not properly aligned. I also wonder whether it might be more cost-effective to invest in professional-grade components rather than the best dampers for BESTA. Are there any experiences regarding whether more expensive dampers actually perform better, or is the IKEA original solution usually sufficient? I would be interested to know.

Thanks for the tip! I actually had some silicone spray but wasn’t sure if it might be too sticky.

The dampers directly from IKEA weren’t immediately obvious to me in the store. Can someone explain exactly how these dampers are constructed and how they are installed?

The tracks actually look pretty clean, but I will inspect them more thoroughly and try the lubricant. Thanks for the suggestions, that was very helpful.
