Hello everyone, I am currently planning to install my new Ikea Metod kitchen and am facing the challenge of correctly fitting the Metod drawers with the soft-close feature. My question is: What is the best way to accurately and securely install the drawers with soft-close? Are there any special tips for adjusting the soft-close mechanism, and what should I definitely pay attention to ensure everything works smoothly and the drawers close gently and quietly? Any advice on tools and common mistakes to avoid would also be great. Thanks in advance!

Just as an additional note: Ikea often provides spacers, which should definitely be used. They prevent misalignment and ensure the soft-close function.

Installing soft-close drawers in Ikea Metod:
- Mount the rails parallel
- Secure the soft-close mechanism firmly
- Snap the drawer in place
- Test the function

That’s really the core of the process, but sometimes the devil is in the details. For example, I once made the mistake of misaligning the front panel, which then affected the closing. It’s important to remember that the fronts are individually adjustable—in height, lateral, and depth directions.

Neglecting this can lead to issues with the smooth closing later on.

Exactly, adjusting the front panel often makes the difference:

- The height is usually adjusted with a set screw on the hinge or side adjustment.
- The lateral alignment ensures the gaps are even.
- The depth must be precise; otherwise, the soft-close function will not work properly.

Ikea provides some instructions, but hands-on adjustment and trial fitting are essential.

I would like to add: When installing a soft-close system for the first time, it’s best to do a trial run with a single drawer. You will immediately notice if something sticks or doesn’t close properly.

Exactly. You don’t want your kitchen Tetris to get stuck in the end. And yes, a little humor always helps during installation 😉👍

Thank you very much for your detailed tips and advice! I found the suggestions about adjusting the fronts especially helpful, as well as the reminder that the soft-close mechanism only works smoothly if the rails are installed perfectly straight and parallel.

I will proceed step by step and start by working on a single drawer. I will get back to you if any problems arise or if I have new questions. Thanks again for the support!
