Hello everyone, I am currently installing my new IKEA Metod drawers and have noticed that they don’t slide as smoothly as I expected. I am particularly interested in how to assemble the drawers so they glide effortlessly and trouble-free – especially under load and over extended use.
So far, I have installed the Metod slides according to the instructions, but I often feel slight sticking or an unpleasant resistance. It is also important for me to know whether additional lubricants are useful and if there are specific points to watch for during installation, such as alignment, screw and anchor size, slide adjustment, or correcting minor angle errors.
Does anyone have long-term experience with this type of installation and tips on what to pay attention to in order to ensure the drawers run smoothly and last well? I appreciate any practical advice!

Here is an additional technical tip:
If everything still doesn't run optimally after all measures, check the load on the ball bearings in the tracks. Under heavy stress, there can be minimal wear on the balls. This can be noticed as slight grinding or uneven resistance.
If this is the case, you can try removing the tracks and treating them with a very fine lubricant or even carefully inspecting the balls for damage.
However, this is quite rare and usually only occurs after prolonged use.

Wow, this is really turning into a professional discussion! 😊 I just wanted to encourage everyone: if you follow all the tips, the result will be excellent. You just shouldn’t get frustrated if it’s not perfect on the first try. The IKEA Metod drawers are great, and with a bit of care, everything runs smoothly.
Pro tip: For large or heavy drawers, it’s a good idea to do a spot load test with heavier weights. That way, you can quickly see if the adjustment is right.
Good luck, and thanks to everyone for the help!
