neonuHello everyone,
I am currently planning to install IKEA Metod countertops and am wondering how to connect them as invisibly and securely as possible. Specifically, I want to create a stable and long-lasting connection between the individual countertops without visible joints or any elements that would disrupt the surface.
I have already considered special connectors, but securely fastening them while achieving an aesthetically pleasing seam without gaps seems difficult to reconcile.
Does anyone with experience or technical knowledge have tips or recommendations on how to join Metod countertops invisibly and firmly? Which materials, tools, or techniques are best suited for this?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions and advice!

Regarding the invisible and secure fastening of IKEA Metod countertops, I recommend the following approach:
- Use the original IKEA countertop connectors (also known as cam connectors) included in the assembly instructions. These are precisely matched to the countertop material.
- Thoroughly clean the contact surfaces to remove any dust or grease residues.
- For an invisible connection, install the connectors from underneath so that no screws or clamps are visible on the top surface.
- Ensure the countertops are aligned flush to prevent gaps.
- If necessary, a thin layer of assembly adhesive (e.g., for wood) can additionally help strengthen the connection without being visible.
Avoid screws from the top, as these remain visible. Using the original fittings and a proper assembly process will result in a durable and invisible connection.

I did it myself this way: mounted the IKEA countertop connectors underneath, which hold very securely and are completely hidden from view.
One more tip from my experience: if you lightly sand the edges, they fit together even better—like a well-matched puzzle.
With the right tools, this is easy to achieve. Then just add some construction adhesive underneath—et voilà, you get a seamless, stable connection without visible screws or marks on top.
And hey, cooking is even more fun when the countertop fits like a tailor-made suit! 😉
