Exactly, not only does that look unattractive, but it also reduces your enjoyment of the new kitchen. I did it myself this way: mounted the IKEA countertop connectors underneath, which hold very securely and are completely hidden from view.

One more tip from my experience: if you lightly sand the edges, they fit together even better—like a well-matched puzzle.

With the right tools, this is easy to achieve. Then just add some construction adhesive underneath—et voilà, you get a seamless, stable connection without visible screws or marks on top.
