Hello everyone,
I have an Ikea Besta cabinet and want to create a well-organized storage solution for my craft supplies. Since I have a variety of small items like beads, threads, glue, scissors, paints, and paper punches, I’m looking for a method or setup to keep everything clear and easily accessible. I am considering using drawer inserts or perhaps adding extra shelves and small boxes that can be easily removed. It’s important for me to have a mix of storage space for bulkier items as well as compartments for tiny pieces.
Does anyone have experience or suggestions on how to best modify or improve an Ikea Besta specifically for craft materials? Which inserts, organizers, or tricks have proven effective? Any tips on compartment sizes or materials for the boxes would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I can fully understand how challenging it can be to organize crafting materials – I know that kind of chaos all too well. The important thing is to find a solution that feels right for you and makes your daily routine easier, not more complicated.
If you want to stock the shelf, you might also consider creating categories such as "Paper & Cardboard," "Cutting & Gluing," "Pens & Paints," and "Small Items." This way, you can keep your boxes and compartments neatly organized.
Sometimes it helps to store less frequently used items in a separate place, so the crafting shelf is used more effectively for the things you use more often. It’s also useful to be aware of what is actually needed so the shelf doesn’t overflow. This reduces frustration and creates free workspace, which is important for creativity.
