Hello everyone, I am currently planning to connect several IKEA Metod kitchen cabinets and am wondering about the best way to securely join them together. My main concern is that the individual cabinets align flush and remain as stable as possible, without wobbling or drifting apart over time. I am already considering common fastening methods such as screws or connecting fittings, but I am unsure which options provide the greatest stability and whether it is better to use IKEA’s accessories or third-party products. Additionally, I am interested in whether the alignment of the cabinets relative to the wall should be taken into account during installation to avoid stability issues. I look forward to your tips and experiences, especially regarding practical implementation without needing much adjustment afterward.

A well-considered approach is to reinforce the back panels of the cabinets as well – either with continuous screws or suitable metal brackets. The back panel significantly contributes to the overall stability. If possible, I would also recommend attaching the cabinets to the wall before installation, for example using fasteners that are also offered by IKEA. This helps prevent the assembled system from shifting later on. During installation, take your time, especially to align the cabinets precisely and check for levelness. A tip: Installation on a soft substrate can also lead to shifting, so a stable base is important.

Great to see how thoroughly you’ve already discussed this! I’d like to add that installing small wooden strips between the cabinets and under the countertop is definitely worthwhile, especially to close small gaps and create a continuous, stable support surface. This helps distribute the weight more evenly and makes the connection feel stronger. It can also be helpful to retighten the screws a few weeks after installation, as wood naturally changes over time and screws can sometimes loosen slightly. Don’t worry—just tighten them again and enjoy!
