Hello everyone,

A few months ago, I bought an Ikea Platsa system, mainly used as storage for various items. Since these surfaces are used daily, I’m wondering: what is the best way to clean the surfaces of this system without damaging them or affecting the material texture?

I’m particularly looking for a cleaning solution that is suitable for the film coating and can withstand everyday use without problems. What products and methods would you recommend to remove dirt, fingerprints, or light scratches? Thanks in advance for your tips!

Interesting discussion so far. However, I wonder if the focus on these 'gentle' cleaning agents and cloths might be a bit excessive. After all, panel elements don’t cost a fortune, and a small scratch can happen in everyday use. I would rather recommend using a regular all-purpose cleaner, especially when you need to clean quickly. Of course, don’t scrub harshly, but take a more practical approach.

Anyone who cleans daily and treats the furniture like a treasure might lose touch with practical handling. But to each their own.

Thank you for your input! One could certainly argue that a more pragmatic cleaning approach is sufficient – but for me, preserving the film’s appearance and functionality over the long term is important, since I want to keep the

as intact as possible.

So I am actually looking for a maintenance method that withstands everyday use while being gentle. I am, of course, aware of your points, but my focus is exactly on what is best suited to minimize wear.

Hey Paujon1, thanks for the detailed question! I use a mild cleaner (e.g., an all-purpose cleaner in a very diluted form) and then wipe the surface with a microfiber cloth. That's more than enough; no need to be too aggressive!

Don’t stress about it, small stains come off easily, and over time you’ll get a feel for the best routine. Your PLATSA will thank you! 🙂
