Good morning everyone, I want to clean my IKEA Platsa cabinets with plastic surfaces, but I am unsure which cleaning products are best. The surfaces are matte and slightly textured, and sometimes there are small grease spots or dust. My question is: Which cleaning agents or home remedies are most suitable for gently but thoroughly cleaning the IKEA Platsa plastic surfaces without dulling or damaging them? Are there any special tips or warnings to keep in mind? Thanks in advance!

It is best to use a mild dish soap with warm water and a soft cloth. Afterwards, dry thoroughly to avoid water spots. Do not use harsh cleaners or abrasive materials.

For cleaning IKEA Platsa plastic surfaces, I recommend using a mild, pH-neutral cleaning agent. A mixture of dishwashing detergent and water, as mentioned earlier, is ideal. Use a soft microfiber cloth to protect the surface. Avoid cleaners containing alcohol or solvents, as these can damage and fade the plastic. Abrasive sponges and harsh cleaning agents should also be avoided to prevent scratches.

Here is a small tip that is often overlooked: When dust builds up heavily, a gentle mist of water followed by drying with a soft cloth is usually enough. Grease stains can be effectively removed with a mixture of water and a drop of dish soap – this protects the surface and prevents it from becoming dull. So, it’s not magic, just gentle care. 🌿

Thank you for the quick and helpful responses so far. I have one more question: What about vinegar water or household remedies like baking soda? I've heard that these can sometimes be used on plastic surfaces. I definitely don’t want to damage the surfaces. Is there any experience with whether this works or if it’s more likely to be harmful?

Vinegar water should not be used regularly on plastic surfaces, as the acid can damage the protective layer. Occasionally using very diluted vinegar water can help with lime scale deposits, but be careful and always test on an inconspicuous spot first. Baking soda in the form of a paste can be used selectively, for example on small stains, but it should be used very cautiously as it can have a mild abrasive effect. In general, mild dish soap solutions are safer and gentler.
