Hello everyone, I recently purchased an Ikea Pax wardrobe with high-gloss fronts and am now facing the problem of how to clean these surfaces properly without leaving streaks or smudges. So far, I have tried using regular all-purpose cleaners and microfiber cloths, but the results have never looked truly clean—there are always streaks or marks left behind.

I am especially interested in which cleaning agents and cloths work best. Should I use special glass or plastic cleaners? Are household remedies like vinegar or dish soap recommended, or could they damage the high-gloss finish?

I would also like to know if a particular wiping technique, such as always wiping in one direction or circular motions, makes a difference.

I’m looking forward to your tips and experiences on how to clean the Ikea Pax high-gloss surfaces streak-free without damaging them.

The issue with streaks is well known for high-gloss surfaces.

An important factor is the cloth: high-quality, clean microfiber cloths are essential, as otherwise dirt particles and water spots can cause streaks.

Also, when dealing with stubborn stains, it’s worth dampening the cloth before cleaning to gently loosen the dirt. After cleaning, you should never leave too much moisture on the surface.

If you use special furniture care products for high-gloss finishes, be sure to check that they are safe for plastic or acrylic coatings.

Hello klagi, I know the problem with streaks all too well – but don’t worry, it can be fixed! 😊

I swear by a very simple method: first wipe with a slightly damp microfiber cloth in the direction of the streaks (for me, from left to right), then immediately polish with a dry, also clean cloth. Very important: both cloths must be really clean!

And if it gets really stubborn: just one drop of dish soap in the water, no more, and never apply too wet.

If you like, try this approach – it works reliably for me.

Never clean with paper towels – they leave scratches. Lightly dampen a microfiber cloth, use a mild cleaner, then polish dry; this method has always worked well for me.

I would like to agree with this. Dish soap is suitable as long as it is mild and used diluted. A cloth that is too wet is counterproductive because excess water on the surface quickly causes streaks.

In general, I also recommend avoiding harsh household cleaners and alcohol, as these can cause damage.

In summary: mild dish soap, microfiber cloths, wiping without too much moisture, and drying by polishing afterward. This is essential to avoid streaks on high-gloss surfaces.
