Hello everyone,

Some time ago, I installed an Ikea Metod kitchen and am now really happy with the design. However, I have noticed that the fronts—especially the white glossy ones—are quite prone to grease stains and fingerprints.

I am therefore looking for an effective yet very gentle cleaning method that does not damage or harm the surfaces. It would be great if you could share tips on which cleaning agents are suitable, how often the fronts should ideally be cleaned, and if there are any special tricks for stubborn dirt without affecting the seal or finish.

Additionally, I am interested to know if different cleaning procedures are required for the various Metod front materials (lacquer, foil, wood decor).

I look forward to your experiences and suggestions!

A tip that has proven effective: After cleaning with mild dish soap and water, always buff dry with a microfiber cloth. This prevents streaks, water spots, and extends the shine of the surfaces.

In addition, avoid leaving unnecessary products on the surfaces. This helps preserve the protective layer and keeps the fronts looking well-maintained for longer.

For heavy grease stains, I use 70% rubbing alcohol diluted with water at a 1:1 ratio. Let it sit briefly, then wipe off. It works great without damaging the surface.

For daily cleaning, lukewarm water with a few drops of mild dish soap is enough.

That’s exactly what I use as well. Important: never use abrasive sponges or harsh cleaners, as they quickly damage the surface. Just a quick note: avoid abrasive powders, even if the surface only appears slightly shiny.
