Hello everyone, I have Ikea Metod kitchen fronts with glass. I find cleaning these glass fronts a bit challenging because I want to avoid streaks or unnecessary scratches. Could you please give me specific tips on how to clean these Ikea Metod glass fronts gently and effectively? It would be helpful to know which cleaning products are suitable, whether special cloths or techniques should be used, and if there is anything that should definitely be avoided. Thanks in advance for your help!

Important: Never polish dry glass with a dry cloth, as this causes micro-scratches. Always work with moisture first.

Thank you for your quick responses! I have an additional question: What about microfiber cloths that often have a very rough side? Should they be avoided, or are they okay if used carefully? Also, I have often read that the cloth should be rinsed several times after cleaning to avoid spreading dirt particles. What do you think about this?

I strongly recommend avoiding rough sides. Even if you are careful, the rough fibers can cause tiny scratches on the glass, which are hardly visible to the naked eye but accumulate over time. The best choice is soft microfiber cloths without frayed edges, specifically made for delicate surfaces.

That is absolutely correct. Dirt and small sand grains trapped in the cloth make it act like sandpaper. Therefore, always rinse the cloth thoroughly, preferably switch to a fresh one, and regularly use new microfiber cloths.

An additional recommendation: If you want to deep-clean the glass surface, you can use vinegar water (1 part white vinegar to 3 parts water). Vinegar is a mild descaling agent and effectively removes grease marks. Important: Do not use it too concentrated to avoid damaging the frame. Afterwards, rinse well with clear water and dry. Vinegar is a natural alternative if you prefer not to use chemical cleaners.

Vinegar water works well, but only when highly diluted. Otherwise, it can damage seals or frames.

Thank you for the tips regarding vinegar water and microfiber cloths. It seems to be a balancing act between thorough cleaning and using gentle, material-friendly products. Are there any experiences on how often the glass surfaces should ideally be cleaned without causing damage? I have the impression that cleaning too often can also have negative effects.
