Hello everyone,
I have several heavily soiled Billy shelves made of MDF that I would like to clean thoroughly without damaging the surface. The shelves have grease stains, dust, and dried beverage stains, and I have already tried cleaning them with water, which unfortunately did not work well and in some cases just smeared the dirt.
My question to the community is: What methods and cleaning agents are best suited for cleaning heavily soiled Billy shelves, especially those made of MDF with a laminated surface?
Are there any home remedies or professional products that you would recommend, and what is the best approach to avoid damaging or harming the surface? I look forward to practical tips and experiences, thank you in advance!

Cleaning agents based on isopropanol (isopropyl alcohol) or special surface cleaners containing this active ingredientThat’s exactly what I have used as well – one of those cleaners from the drugstore! Great results 🙂 Just be careful not to use it too often or too aggressively, or the material may get damaged.
I’m glad to see so much helpful input here! It really motivates me to get started right away :-)
