Hello everyone, I am currently planning my new kitchen using the Ikea Metod system and looking for tips on how to install or select kitchen cabinets to maximize storage space. Specifically, I want to find the best way to combine different cabinet types, integrate internal organization systems effectively, and make good use of any room niches or corners.
I already have some ideas but am not familiar with all the module options and cabinet widths in detail. Does anyone have experience with the best approach to get as much storage as possible without making the kitchen feel cluttered? Advice on pull-outs, drawers, interior divisions, corner solutions, or recommendations for particularly clever storage ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Carousel corner cabinets are practical, but not for everything.I think the whole buzz around carousel corner cabinets is a bit overrated. Most of the time, you end up sliding the unit back and forth and still can’t access it well. It’s better to have more small pull-outs all around and plan the corner area differently, perhaps with a tall cabinet as a divider or open shelving elements.
Storage doesn’t necessarily mean a carousel. Sometimes a better solution is less storage, but well organized. For example, many people use stacked drawers instead of awkwardly rummaging through the typical rotating carousel.
Thank you all very much, this has already helped me to reconsider the corner solutions more critically and to pay attention to the plinth drawers. Especially the advice on ergonomics and the various uses of the drawers have opened up new perspectives for my planning. I will now create a detailed sketch and check which cabinet widths and heights fit best in the existing kitchen – and then adjust the interior layout using your tips. If anyone has specific experience with the interior fittings or particular combinations, feel free to share!
