Hello everyone, I am currently planning the installation of my new kitchen using the Ikea Metod system and want to design the kitchen cabinets to achieve maximum storage capacity and optimal functionality. I am particularly interested in how to make the best use of the different cabinets—especially base cabinets and tall cabinets. How do you best organize the interior space, which drawers, baskets, or organizers are most suitable for frequently used kitchen utensils, and how can planning mistakes be avoided during installation? Are there any specific tips to make the assembly process efficient and avoid potential errors? In short: How do I build Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets for maximum functionality? I look forward to your detailed experiences and advice!

Additionally, it is worthwhile to install as many drawers as possible in the base cabinets. This provides a much better overview than shelves behind doors.
Important: The drawers must be installed precisely – otherwise, they will not slide smoothly. A spirit level is also helpful during installation to ensure everything fits properly later on.

Maybe we should consider how to flexibly expand or modify these standard Ikea units.Absolutely! Personally, I often add small extras like hook rails inside the doors or flexible dividers – it makes the cabinets feel more personal and functional. For me, flexibility means using Ikea as a base and then getting the most out of it with small adjustments.
And don’t be afraid to experiment! Sometimes it’s the unconventional solutions that are the most enjoyable and make the kitchen even more practical. 😊

Sometimes it’s exactly the unusual solutions that make it really fun and also make the kitchen more functional.Absolutely, I agree with that. To address the question again: functionality in Metod systems is achieved not only through precise organization but also through thoughtful planning of worktop height and kitchen workflows. Consider how you place the cooktop, sink, and work surfaces in relation to each other, as a good layout significantly simplifies daily tasks.
During installation, it’s also worth regularly checking that everything is properly aligned. A misadjusted hinge or a crooked frame can become very frustrating later on. One final tip: allow yourself a bit more time for installation so that everything fits perfectly in the end.
